Green Drinks Summer Series to Begin in June

The North Florida Green Chamber of Commerce (NFGCC) will begin its inaugural Green Drinks Summer Series on June 16 at the Cobalt Moon Center, in Neptune Beach, from 4 to 5 p.m., and then next door at Sliders Oyster Bar, from 5 to 6 p.m. The other dates in the series, which include the same locations and times, are July 21 and August 25.

“We are excited to launch this series in an informal summertime get-together for anyone interested in environmental issues and sustainability to connect in a fun and casual setting,” says NFGCC Executive Director Christina Kelcourse Esq, CFP, CRPC.

Following a presentation on biomimicry at the center, the event moves next door to Sliders Oyster Bar, Jacksonville’s first Surfrider Ocean-Friendly Restaurant, for the Green Drinks social.

Series topics include using biomimicry to create sustainable products, on June 16; using biomimicry to design new business practices, on July 21; and using biomimicry and bio-utilization to clean up waste, on August 25.

Integrative bioscientist Jessica Tittl, of BiomeFuture, an innovation company dedicated to applying the knowledge and power of nature to the development of sustainable products and systems, will be the presenter.

“Our summer series is focused on biomimicry, and we have invited a subject matter expert in Jessica. This helps get the local conversation going and offers the opportunity to learn about biomimicry and engage in meaningful dialogue followed by a chance to catch up with friends, meet new contacts and network with like-minded people to promote sustainability,” says NFGCC Chairman Dolly Penland.

Green Drinks partners include the North Florida Land Trust, Environmental Protection Board, St. Johns River Keepers, Surfrider, Beaches Go Green and the Florida Green Building Coalition. Media sponsors include Natural Awakenings and Folio/EU.
